Agaea
The Great Sand
Ancient, vast and unforgiving. The Great Sands stretch across the map as far as the eye can see. It is an unforgiving land, breeding unforgiving people. Its settlements ancient remnants of a forgotten age. Its culture deep, with bloodlines far reaching. The great City, Atenaa - The Jewel of the Dessert, The City of Dragons, at its core.
Culture
The biggest social influence in Agaea is that of the church of Martivir. Though all settlements are free to govern themselves, the Dragon god's clergy play a pivitol role in the governance of all.
Dragonborn have a high standing in society here, mostly because they are seen as resempling Martivir's chosen form. Though Elves and Humans are plentiful, Dragonborn tends to have the most sway in the social hierarchies of the realm.
Ecology
Agaea is now a dry and barren desert. Fossils and ones showcase that this was not always the case. Vast stretches of dunes are broken up by pools of salt flats or rocky crevasses. Though seemingly empty of natural life, the desert is home to a multitude of predatory and magical beasts, like the Dire Moles and Burrow Worms.
Some farmable land exist in the south along the banks of the Golden river. Though due to the magical nature of Agaea's barren state, the flora in the area grows in strange and otherworldy ways.
History
In the previous age, Agaea was a lush tropical realm, with rainforests covering most of the land from the Long mountains to the Sea of Shadows. At the foot of what is now called the Elf mountains stood one of the great World trees - a mystical anchor between Myrth and the Myst Aether.
After the destruction of the World Tree at Bonaduic, the land was scarred. It rapidly shifted to become the seemingly barren wasteland it is today. But the magical scars caused much more than the climate to fail. From the destruction, the flora and fauna that remained got twisted and evolved into new, chaotic lifeforms.
